Adam Calhoun’s “American Native” Reaches No. 1 on iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Albums Chart

Adam Calhoun has another No. 1 album to add to his résumé.

His new album, “American Native,” climbed to the top of the U.S. iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Albums chart following its release on September 11. At the time the chart was captured, Calhoun was sitting ahead of projects from Tsu Surf, EST Gee, Don Trip and Starlito, CZARFACE, Kanye West, JAY-Z and The Game.

The independently released project contains 10 songs and runs for approximately 28 minutes. The tracklist includes “The Painter,” “Hang Em High,” “The White House,” “Old And Gone,” “Say When,” “Devil For A Dime,” “Many Men,” “Raised Right,” “Red, White, And Loaded” and “Death And Taxes.”

The early chart success shows that Calhoun’s audience continues to show up when he releases new music. Reaching No. 1 on an iTunes genre chart is driven by album purchases, making it a direct reflection of fans financially supporting the project.

Chart positions can change throughout the day, but “American Native” reaching the top spot gives Calhoun another strong opening and puts a country rap release above several major names in hip-hop.
